Intelligent universal control for your electrical appliances: flexible, convenient operation

The most flexible solution for intelligent switching

The intelligent switching relay is your universal multi-purpose accessory for intelligent switching: whether for controlling your garage doors, sprinkler system, ventilation, pumps, lighting or even conventional sockets, the application possibilities are virtually unlimited.

Multi-functional use

The intelligent relay can be used to switch various electrical devices on and off via a potential-free contact, such as garage doors, pumps, lawn sprinklers, ventilation systems, conventional or gas boilers, sockets and lighting.

Flexible installation

The Bosch Smart Home relay can be flexibly installed behind an existing wall switch and button, in a junction box, or outdoors in a weatherproof installation box (e.g. IP66).

Individual use

Control the intelligent relay flexibly from the connected wall switch/knob, using a voice assistant, custom automations, scenarios and time programs, as well as from the remote mobile app.

Installation

Installing the intelligent relay is quick and easy, thanks to the step-by-step instructions available in the app.

Please note that 230 V AC devices should only be installed by qualified professionals.

The intelligent relay works in the same way as traditional switches: it cuts off the electrical circuit, but remotely. To enable a wide range of applications, you have a choice of two operating modes.

Mode 1: On/Off

The first option is the "On/Off" mode.

  • On/Off" mode: the device acts as a toggle switch. You can actively switch your devices on and off, or control them via time profiles or automation via a connected button, voice command or the app.
  • Range of application: devices that are normally controlled by a switch (toggle), such as sprinkler and ventilation systems, conventional or gas boilers, pond pumps, sockets, lights, etc.

Mode 2: pulse control

The second option for intelligent switching with the Bosch Smart Home relay is the "pulse control" mode.

  • Pulse control" operating mode: In this mode, the device acts like a switch. All you have to do is briefly interrupt the electrical circuit, and the connected devices react to the short current pulse. This is the scenario of the light in the stairwell.
  • Field of application: devices that are activated directly from a button (such as garage doors) or that are connected to a central impulse relay (such as automatic staircase lighting).

Voice assistants

"Alexa, turn on the sprinkler system".

Some functions of the smart switching relay allow you to conveniently control your devices using voice services such as Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant or Siri.

Integration in the Apple HomeKit®, Amazon and Google Home apps also enables you to link compatible products from other manufacturers.

Repeater and protection functions

Repeater and protection functions

Benefit from a higher level of security thanks to integrated protection functions:

  • Overheating protection: constantly monitors the temperature of devices, automatically switches them off in the event of overheating and notifies you via the app.
  • Child lock: allows you to lock out manual use of the knob/wall switch, quickly and easily from the app.
  • Practical side effect of your smart relay: it automatically boosts the radio signal of certain devices grouped together in the Smart Home system and using the ZigBee radio standard, and acts as a Smart Home repeater.

Important notes and useful information

Installation prerequisites

The intelligent relay can be used with AC loads up to 2990 W (note nameplate data: capacitive/inductive power up to 400 VA), as well as DC loads up to a maximum of 24 V at 8 A.

The relay's compact design makes it easy to fit into junction boxes. For manual operation, you can also connect a conventional mechanical button to the relay. When installed in a junction box, no wall switch/button is required.

The device can be used to intelligently switch on/off lamps/luminaires and other electrical consumers.

Please note the following points:

  • Compact size of 40.5 x 47 x 22 mm (h x w x d).
  • Suitable for conventional flush-mounted boxes with a minimum depth of 50 mm, as well as the most common wall-mounted boxes.
  • Can only be used outdoors with appropriate protective enclosures (e.g. IP66).
  • For installation in flush-mounted boxes, a minimum depth of 50 mm is required. For optimum installation, however, a minimum housing depth of 60 mm is recommended.
  • To supply the relay with power, a permanent 230 V power supply with neutral conductor is required.
  • The terminal screws must not be completely unscrewed, to ensure that the screw remains firmly in place after installation.
  • Installation must only be carried out by qualified and authorized professionals.

Connection diagrams

To operate, the Bosch Smart Home relay requires a 230 V/50 Hz AC power supply.

However, the potential-free output allows the connected electrical circuits to operate on direct or alternating current within the limits of the product data sheet.

(AC: max. 230 V / 13 A, DC: max. 24 V / 8 A)

Caution! 230 V AC devices may only be installed by qualified professionals.

Be sure to disarm the circuit fuse before starting!

Not enough space for the device housing in the wall? No problem!

Our wall switch allows you to install your Bosch Smart Home players in a space-saving way. Thanks to its installation flexibility, it's a complete solution that can either completely replace existing switches or be used in compatible switch series already in place. Its extra-flat design saves up to 15 mm compared with conventional switches.

Functions

  • Multi-functional electronic switching via potential-free contact (e.g. garage doors, ventilation systems, pumps, sockets, lighting).
  • Flexible control, e.g. via application, button/switch, scenarios, automation, time programs
  • Certain functions can be controlled via a voice assistant (Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant)
  • Discreet installation behind a switch/button, in a junction box or in a weatherproof installation box (IP66)
  • Extends the radio signal range of certain Bosch Smart Home devices as a repeater
